What type of pet boarding do you do?
Wren-E's Cat Boarding B&B is a feline only home-like facility.
What type accommodations do you offer?
We have accommodations for most every need.We offer views of busy bird feeders, water features and lush gardens. The maximum number of guests is held at eight for individual attention.
Who will be caring for my cat during his or her stay?
I will be caring for you feline friend while at Wren-E's. I am the sole proprietor and reside on the premises for full service care.
Are the kennels securely monitored?
Yes. I have a professionally monitored (24/7) alarm system. The system detects smoke & fire as well as any breach in security.
What about meals and who provides the food?
I provide all of the Science Diet dry products. Should your cat be on a special diet we ask that you bring enough food to cover his/her stay & we’d be happy to use yours.
How can I check the status of my pet while I’m away?
My office hours are Monday-Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and I am closed on Sunday for guest arrivals or departures. I can be reached by telephone at 503/771-9563 and email boardmycat@catboarding.biz during office hours. I would be happy to answer email or telephone queries about your pet while he/she’s here.
Why board your cat vs. using an in-home pet sitting service?
Like people, every cat has his/her own personality. Some cats like the company of knowing someone else is around & do better in 24/7 care. Some don’t. If you have a severely skittish cat you may consider leaving him/her at home & have a service come to him/her.
What are my payment options?
I trust the clients in our community as they trust us with their pets. It’s rare that I ever have payment problems, therefore, payment is due when services are complete, no deposit is required. We do not accept credit cards at this time. All payment must be in the form of personal check, money order or cash.
What are check-in/departure times?
I allow check-in/departures by appointment during normal office hours Monday - Saturday (9:00 am - 4:30 pm). Since we charge by the night (as most Bed & Breakfasts do...) your cat must depart by the agreed upon day & time or another per night fee will be charged. We are closed on Sundays for arrivals, departures and public contact. We urge the use of pet carriers or leash with a snug harness. While under normal conditions your cat may allow you to carry him/her, an unexpected noise may give your cat a start and squirm from your grip.
What if I can’t make your time parameters?
I, on occasion, will make an exception when necessary. Life is uncertain sometimes...
How do you charge for day of departure/arrival?
Rates are charged like a regular hotel. As long as you pick your pet up at the time/date agreed upon, we will not charge you for that days stay. For more information check out our rate page.
Do you refuse to service to anyone?
Yes. I allow only neutered/spayed cats into my facility. Intact cats have a tendency to mark their territory which would make for an unclean environment (young kittens under 4 months of age being the only exception). Should your cat be dangerous or unusually aggressive I would recommend you use an in-home pet care service. Extreme neglect cases are reported to the proper authorities immediately. (i.e. pet suffers from ailments or wounds blatantly untreated or malnourished).
What do I need to do to make reservations?
Give me a call Monday-Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at 503/771-9563 to make a reservation. If you get my voice mail, I must be at playtime with the guests - I will return your call as soon as possible. I ask that you give us as much advanced notice as possible to ensure we can accommodate your requests (school vacation/holidays are booked up fairly quickly). Cancellations are accepted without penalty 48 hours prior to check in day. Clients with a record of chronic cancellations will not be allowed to reserve time during holidays/school vacations without full payment in advance.
I’ve never been to your facility. May I check it out before making reservations?
I urge you to do this to ensure you’re comfortable with my facility & myself as a pet care provider. Give me a call in advance and I would be happy to schedule a private tour during our business hours. No one will be admitted without an appointment for the security & safety of our guests.
What are your rates?
Please see my Rates & Service web page.
Do you charge extra for exercise time?
No. I allow all our guests time to exercise/stretch their legs and have the run of the house based on his/her ability to play "nice" with other guests. My facility has scratching posts, windows views of the bird feeding station, play station, and comfortable furniture to "cat" nap.
Do you allow bedding from home?
Yes, I do permit bedding from home. I ask that this bedding is freshly laundered and in good repair
What proof of vaccination do I need?
Prior to check in I need a copy of your up to date vet records with proof of vaccination for Feline Rabies and Feline Leukemia. No cats will be allowed in without the required vaccinations. No exceptions.
What credentials do you have for cat boarding?
My facility is licensed by the Multnomah County Animal Control and registered with the State of Oregon Attorney General.
My cat has special needs, can you help?
I administer pills, serve dietary supplements, clean out gummy eyes and administer ear drops for an additional fee. I do not administer subcutaneous fluids. Should your pet require an extremely high level of medical attention I ask that you board with your vet.
What type of litter do you use?
I tried and rejected scoop-able litter, finding "Tidy Cat" (the old fashioned clay litter) works best for boarding. I scoop 'solids' in between litter change. Boxes are replaced with machine washed boxes after each meal. All boxes & scoops are machine washed prior to use to eliminate cross contamination.
My cat may have fleas, will you still take him?
All guests must be flea & tick free upon arrival. We ask that you apply "Advantage" for cats the night before you board your cat or I can administer it upon admission for a fee.
Why have you chosen cat boarding as a vocation?
I am retired from Workforce Development and am enjoying every minute. I stumbled upon pet care by accident. Friends & family would ask me to care for their pets while away & I discovered not only did I enjoy it, but that there is a great need for responsible pet care professionals. I love what I do now, not many working people can say that!
Is there anytime of year you close down?
I schedule my vacations & time off at non-peak times of year and it has worked out well.
Will you take in other critters such as bunnies, mice or reptiles?
No, I do not have an interest in boarding any other guest than a feline guest.
Comfort is a concern, do you have A/C?
Yes. My facility has air conditioning and ceiling fans that circulate the air. When the weather permits, there is plenty of air movement with more than average windows and door side-lights with screens.
